Tilt and Slide Door Handle Problems
Most tilt and slide door mechanism handles work so that they can be positioned at three separate angles. In most cases the first position which is the the upright handle position will be the locking point. When The handle is moved down to the horizontal position it will allow the door to be pulled out and slid open. The third position is when the handle is pointed downwards which allows the door to remain locked but tilted inwards letting in air but not leaving enough room to exit or enter.
Usually when there is a problem with the handle not turning it can be one of several things. From our experience a problem with the sliding door handle occurs as a symptom of a problem that has previously occurred with the mechanism. If for some reason the sliding door mechanism has jammed then the problem will lead to the handle not turning. In most cases we find that the handle is broken because previous to that the mechanism had been jammed and so the handle has also unwittingly been broken because it was forced while trying to open unknowingly.
